64-bit Application<\/p>\n

\uf0b7 IC is now a 64-bit application which offers improved performance and greater memory.
\n\uf0b7 Being 64-bit application allows IC to handle large databases and images more effectively.\u00a0Phasing out Microsoft Access database support
\n\uf0b7 Microsoft Access databases are not fully supported in 64-bit applications so it will be replaced by\u00a0SQL Server LocalDB.
\n\uf0b7 LocalDB is a single file database which has the same functionality as MS Access but has the\u00a0benefit of improved performance.
\n\uf0b7 Existing Access databases can still be opened but in 32-bit mode only.
\n\uf0b7 Existing Access databases can be upgraded, cloned and imported as in previous versions.
\n\uf0b7 MS Access databases will be phased out in IC 2017 and fully replaced by SQL Server LocalDB.\u00a0\u00a0(See “Converting Access to SQL Server LocalDB.pdf” for further details.)
\nFaulting
\n\uf0b7 3D Depth based fault sticks picked from seismic data can now be imported into IC to improve\u00a0structural visualisation capability.
\n\uf0b7 Faults can be displayed on maps as an outline polygon view, a 2D structural view or a gradientbased display.
\n\uf0b7 Faults can also be displayed and edited in cross sections and 3D Viewer to help the conceptual\u00a0understanding of the subsurface.
\n\uf0b7 Both multiple faults and individual faults can now be imported directly from Petrel.
\n\uf0b7 Import and export of faults from other applications is also possible as ASCII files (with custom\u00a0fault format definitions); IRAP Classic files, PolyLineZ format shapefiles, and Z-map files formats\u00a0are all now supported.\u00a0\u00a0(See “Release Note – 4.1.00 \u2013 Faulting.pdf” release note for further details.)
\nGridding\/Surfaces
\n\uf0b7 A number of improvements and modifications have been made to the calculation and display of\u00a0surfaces within IC.
\n\uf0b7 Previously referred to as grids, the existing surfaces can now be resized directly from a map and\u00a0any changes to range or display can now be applied with just one click.
\n\uf0b7 More powerful gridding methods are also available which allows pre-modelling data interrogation\u00a0and analysis to be performed in IC, without the need to export into Petrel or other software\u00a0packages.
\n\uf0b7 Industry Standard methods including Kriging estimator, Quadratic Shepard and Minimum\u00a0Curvature have been added to the existing range of gridding algorithms to aid the overall\u00a0understanding of the subsurface.<\/em><\/p>\n

Map Toolbox
\n\uf0b7 The Map toolbox has been created to allow continuous updates of the map display, using a\u00a0dockable updated tool. The map toolbox combines the properties from the old Map Manager and\u00a0Map Properties.\u00a0(See \u201cMap Toolbox.pdf\u201d and Help documentation for further details)
\nEnhanced Exporting
\n\uf0b7 Export tools has been added to support some of the more common export formats required\u00a0including flat file (CSV, TSV), Excel spreadsheet and GIS compatible formats (SHP, KML and\u00a0GeoJson).\u00a0\u00a0These can be exported from reports, well browser and the well book builder.\u00a0\u00a0(See \u201cRelease Note – 4.1.00 – Additional Data Export Formats.pdf\u201d and Help documentation for\u00a0further details)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
